With Mother’s Day this Sunday, May 12th, we have the perfect opportunity to show gratitude for all of the moms that do so much for us. Colorado Springs is filled with cute local shops and marketplaces, making shopping for the perfect gift just as fun, as it is meaningful. Whether your Mom is a hiking-junkie, stay-at-home movie enthusiast, or contemporary art lover, here’s where you can find a Mother’s Day gift in Colorado Springs.

1. Local Shops in Old Colorado City

With plenty of local shops and boutiques, stroll through Old Colorado City (A.K.A. “OCC”) to find gifts for all types of Moms. Old Colorado City is hands down the best place to find art in all of Colorado Springs. Stop by Arati Artist Gallery to find art from the best local artists. You should also check out Laura Reilly’s Fine Art Gallery and Studio, her collection consists of the most beautiful Colorado scenes, especially the Springs, and her pieces are the perfect fit for any Colorado home. Later, you can pop into EllyBlue, a boutique that specializes in Women’s clothing, jewelry and decorations (Special tip: check their fridge magnets. They are hilarious and sure to have your Mom laughing!) Before you head home, make sure to stop by Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for a sweet treat and perfect addition to any gift you found on your walk throughout town. Fun fact: there are over 250 Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory locations throughout the U.S. and Philippines, but this location is the very first one! OCC is the perfect place to find unique local gifts for your Mom this year.

2. Boutiques Downtown

You don’t have to end your day in Old Colorado City. Just East of “OCC” is downtown Colorado Springs, where you can find a wide assortment of local shops and boutiques. One of my personal favorites is Terra Verde Boutique, with super cute clothing, home decor, and plenty of fun books. If your Mom is fashion forward, you should check out the Colorado Co-op. You’ll find a lot of options from brand name denim to accessories and other contemporary women’s fashion.

3. Manitou Springs

By now, you’re probably sick of hearing about boutiques and local artisan shops. However, Manitou Springs is yet another place where you can find dozens of amazing ones. Manitou is unique, and the vibe is a lot different than downtown or even Old Colorado City. If your Mom enjoys hiking, get a reservation for the Manitou Incline, one of Colorado’s most famed hikes and enjoy quality time together. (Locals tip: Go as early as possible to avoid the heat and watch the sunrise).

4. Dinner reservation at the Rabbit Hole

Have you ever had dinner underground in an Alice in Wonderland themed restaurant? Well, here’s your chance. The Rabbit Hole is located downtown on Kiowa and Tejon St. Look for the subway style entrance, as it isn’t very well marked. The vibe is really cool, and the food is exceptional, which means it is going to be busy on weekends. Definitely make reservations.

5. Floral Arrangement from Sweetwater

“Sweetwater, a Flower Market” has two locations in Colorado Springs and is the perfect place to get your mother a beautiful flower arrangement. Whether you want to custom make your own bouquet with your mom’s favorite colors, or pick a pre-made arrangement, Sweetwater is the place for you. You can even pick up a card to put in your flowers as well. You can find this Sweetwater flower market on Voyager Pkwy up North or on W. Colorado Ave. in OCC.

Good luck finding the perfect gift this year, and I hope you have a great Mother’s Day!
